About the Pekin Marigold Festival
The Marigold Festival is held each year over the weekend after Labor Day in Downtown Pekin, Illinois. The festival was first organized in 1973 to honor Senator Everett McKinley Dirksen who played an influential role in the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
The Marigold Festival is a family-friendly event featuring many attractions including carnival rides, a parade, festival food, art & craft vendors, pageants, and more. In 2024, the five-day Pekin Marigold Festival will begin on Wednesday, September 4 and conclude on Sunday, September 8.
