About the Sombrero Festival
The Sombrero Festival is held annually during Charro Days at Washington Park in Brownsville, Texas. It was first held in 1986 and is now one of the largest events in Cameron County. The Sombrero Festival is a 501 (c)(4) non-profit corporation that benefits several other non-profit organizations and causes throughout the community.
The Brownsville Sombrero Festival features many attractions and activities for the whole family, including games, music, food, costume contests, taco eating contests, jalapeno eating contests, and lots of fun.
Each year, the four-day festival begins on the last Thursday of February and continues till Saturday. In 2025, the Sombrero Festival will begin on Thursday, February 27 and conclude on Saturday, March 1.
